Meet the Owner
Sofia loves movement and has since her ballerina days. She went from ballet to gymnastics as a child, realized she's a gym rat through and through in highschool, and then found her true love - aerial - her senior year at Vanderbilt. Now she shares her passion for climbing things, spinning, and hanging up-side-down as a performer and aerial instructor in Dallas.
During this time, Sofia began studying aerial technique and proper movement patterns, and she realized her training was off. She realized she was engaging the wrong muscles in her aerial practice and barely engaging any muscles at all during more flexible movements. This grew her interest in how the body moves and functions. Right around this time, Sofia also fell while rock climbing, and experienced an ankle injury that left her unable to walk, much less practice aerial. Always finding a silver lining, Sofia took this as an opportunity to study her recovery process and research how the muscles, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves all interact to create movement.
Throughout her recovery process, Sofia was fascinated by every bit of progress. She experienced first hand the transition from no movement in her ankle to starting to wiggle it to rebuilding strength to walking to climbing down stairs again (hopping down the stairs in her apartment became very annoying very quickly). But she didn't stop there. Sofia was hooked on this idea of joint mobility and continued training until she finally did her first pistol squat! Her ankles are now stronger, more mobile, and more stable than they were before her injury.
During this time, Sofia also started training her fully-body mobility. She was flexible, but not very mobile. She learned a wide variety of techniques to increase her range of motion, maximize her flexibility, improve her form, and keep her free of injury. Sofia wanted to take everything she learned and share it with others because she has seen first hand the value of healthy movement so she became a CPD certified Strength and Mobility Coach. In her own practice, Sofia now focuses on building end-range strength while increasing mobility and flexibility safely and with control - gone are the days of coaches sitting on her while in her split.
Sofia's latest adventure in her movement journey is starting Flexy with Fia, where she hopes to share her love of mobility and flexibility with YOU. Sofia learned in her time as an aerial instructor that she absolutely loves teaching and helping others reach their goals so she's making moves to do more of what she loves!
